OTTAWA – On behalf of the Board of Directors, Rebecca Kudloo, President of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada upon their re-election. “We look forward to continuing our partnerships with Prime Minister Trudeau and his Cabinet,” President Kudloo said.

In 2017-18, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Pauktuutit and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). This marked a new era in Pauktuutit’s relationship with the federal government and allowed for a stronger and more effective working relationship. Through this historic agreement, Pauktuutit has been able to further our work in our priority areas: health and wellness, violence and abuse prevention, and socio-economic development. Additionally, we have had more opportunities to press for both Inuit-specific and Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) reviews of policies and projects on a national scale.

For 35 years, Pauktuutit has advocated for the rights and priorities of Inuit women and communities, both within Inuit Nunangat and in urban areas and eagerly awaits continuing this work with Prime Minister Trudeau and the federal government.
