OTTAWA – On behalf of the Board of Directors, Rebecca Kudloo, President of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, extends warm congratulations to the returning and newly appointed Cabinet Ministers. In particular, Pauktuutit looks forward to continuing our partnerships with the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett; Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Minister of Rural Economic Development, the Honourable Maryam Monsef; Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the Honourable William Blair; Minister of Health, the Honourable Patricia Hadju; and Minister of Indigenous Services, the Honourable Marc Miller.

“We were very happy to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Canada in 2017 through Minister Bennett,” Kudloo noted. She added, “I look forward to continuing to work with the Minister on our shared priorities, as well as with her other Cabinet colleagues, including Minister Monsef.”

Through joint actions to implement this MOU, Pauktuutit looks forward to continued advancement in addressing the priorities of Inuit women and children including health and wellness; violence and abuse prevention; socio-economic development; and an Inuit-specific Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+).

We look forward and anticipate meeting with these Ministers and others in the coming months to discuss the rights and priorities of Inuit women and communities within Inuit Nunangat and urban centres.
