OTTAWA – Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada will be holding its Annual General Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, on January 19, 2018. The Board of Directors will be reporting on activities conducted during the 2016/17 fiscal year. The meeting is open to the public, and will be held at the Hotel Novotel Ottawa at 33 Nicholas Street.

In addition to regular business, elections will be held for the position of Regional Directors for Nunavik (Hudson), Nunavik (Ungava), Western Arctic, Iqaluit, South Qikiqtani, two urban and two youth representatives. Urban members may reside in any location in Canada outside Inuit Nunangat. One youth representative must live in Inuit Nunangat and one outside of Inuit Nunangat.

Any Inuk woman can nominate or be nominated for a position on the Pauktuutit Board of Directors. Nominators must be from the same region as the candidate. Youth Directors must be between the ages of 18-30. Nomination forms are available from local hamlet offices, on the Pauktuutit website at www.pauktuutit.ca, or by calling 1-800-667-0749. The deadline for nominations to be received at the Pauktuutit office is 5:00 PM (EST) Friday, January 12, 2018. Elections will be held on the afternoon of January 19, 2018.

Lastly, Pauktuutit will be hosting a consultation session on the creation of a Federal Arctic Policy Framework identifying existing gaps and challenges from the perspectives of Inuit women. Discussion and input on the framework will be on Thursday, January 18 and Saturday, January 20. Pauktuutit welcomes the opportunity for Inuit women to contribute to this national policy.
