Pauktuutit on

In late 1994, Pauktuutit began its work to launch a national campaign to bring attention to and address alarming statistics that showed 72% of Inuit 15 and up smoked. The partnerships involved in producing the resource materials were extensive. Inuit educators, writers, filmmakers, role models, actors, health workers, artists and others all played major roles in developing the products. An evaluation of the project indicated that “Pauktuutit and its project partners have done a highly credible job…Pauktuutit has produced high-quality information and counselling materials for use in schools, communities and by the media; conducted research on tobacco use among Inuit youth; raised awareness of tobacco as a serious public health issue; and mobilized support from dozens of northern organizations, institutions and individuals.” We hope you will find these resources useful.
