It advocates on behalf of Inuit women in an effort to ensure their input on national issues of concern to aboriginal peoples in Canada, and to increase their participation in federal policies and programs. Pauktuutit's programs address the many social and health issues facing our communities. Pauktuutit broke the silence on painful and controversial issues such as child sexual abuse and violence against women. Since 1984, Pauktuutit has conducted research on many issues such as traditional Inuit midwifery, the administration of justice and the housing crisis in our communities. Our activities are conducted through consultation with our membership, at our Annual General Meetings, workshops and a variety of documents and reports. The findings and outcomes of our activities are used to work for change at the national level. |
